Profile
Marie Arkhipova is an interdisciplinary artist working between monumental art and new media. Her practice combines mosaic, fresco, glitch aesthetics, 3D, AR, VR, game environments and digital reconstruction.
She explores how technology changes the way we perceive history, authenticity, cultural memory and the image itself. Ancient fragments, Byzantine and Roman visual traditions, fossils, digital noise, game engines and artificial intelligence become part of one system.
Arkhipova treats the mosaic tessera as a proto-pixel - a basic unit of image and memory. She studied monumental and decorative painting at the Stroganov Academy and completed the Contemporary Art program at the Free Workshops of MMOMA. She lives and works in Moscow.
